RARE! 1973 "COLUMBUS MAENNERCHOR" COMMEMORATIVE PLATE FOR AN OHIO GERMAN CHOIR

  • This rare ceramic commemorative plate, created by Kettlesprings Kilns of Alliance, Ohio,  is in excellent condition.
  • Made in 1973 in honor of 125 years of service of the Columbus Maennerchor (male chorus), this group, founded in 1848 by 12 young men, is now in 2020 over 170 years old.  WOW!  That makes it the nation’s oldest and largest German singing society in the United States.  To learn more about this group, as well as the ladies’ and children’s groups that have been formed to accompany them, go to http://www.maennerchor.com.  There you’ll find a plethora of information and pictures.
  • Plate features a white base with dark blue accents and lettering, a harp inside of a wreath of leaves, and German writing
  • On the back you’ll find lots of great information summarized for you.  The founders of the group are also listed, so if you’re of German descent you might want to see if your surname is included.
  • Plate measures 10" diameter
