Product Description

1991 HANDMADE "DETROIT" PEWABIC POTTERY ART TILE IN ORIGINAL BOX WITH PAPERWORK

  • Handmade in 1991 by Pewabic Pottery company in Detroit, Michigan that was founded by Mary Chase Perry Stratton & Horace James Caulkins.
  • Excellent, like new condition, in its original box with paperwork
  • Tile is a deep teal color with that special sheen that Pewabic Pottery has because of the glaze they use and the unusual clay they use.
  • It features the word "DETROIT" and the Detroit skyline over the river in a incised, raised design.
  • Back side is impressed with their Pewabic marking and the word “Detroit.”
  • Tile measures 4" square and about .5” thick.
  • The original paperwork is included in the box and shown in our pictures.  It’s like neither of them were ever removed from the box, but kept as a precious memento.
  • Pewabic Pottery is a studio and school in Detroit, Michigan that was founded in 1903. The studio had become so famous that in 1991, they were given the honor of becoming a National Historic Landmark still operating today.
