1929-1930s ROYAL LEERDAM (HOLLAND) SATIN ART GLASS MADONNA AND CHILD
This antique piece is in mint condition, with no noticeable flaws.
The piece is extremely smooth and well made, as well as well weighted for its size, height, and because it’s solid glass.
Designed by Stef Uiterwaal (Stef Uiterwall) of Holland in 1929 and produced by Leerdam, a Dutch Glasshouse, for the Royal Glasfabriek Leerdam in Leerdam, The Netherlands. It is embossed with GUSL on the back at the base for Glasfabreik Leerdam and Stef Uiterwaal.
This beautifully stylized "Madonna and Child" satin glass figure features a woman holding a baby, presumably Mary and Jesus, looks beautiful with lighting. This is a special type of translucent colorless barium glass.
