Product Description

RARE! ANTIQUE c. 1920s WHITMAN'S (PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA) MOR-O MARSHMALLOWS TIN BY CANCO

  • The tin itself was made by Canco, but at one time this cute tin contained "Whitman's Mor-O Marshmallows" by Stephen F. Whitman’s and Son in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1920s.
  • Great condition for something that is 100 years old, but it does have its share of a few teeny spots of rust along the bottom edge and a few miniscule spots inside. It also has a bit of loss of paint, for example where you would hold onto it to open the can. Be sure to see the pictures!
  • Great colors and graphics include a dark blue body and lid with an aqua blue trim around body and lid and gold colored lettering and accents.  It creates an awesome look that has held up incredibly well for 100 years.. There is just a bit of rust due to conditions it’s probably been exposed to over time.
  • Tin is 3.5 oz. net
  • Tin measures 4.25" diameter x 2.25" tall
  • We describe these as rare because there are none like this tin available for sale online that we were able to find but our own.  We saw some on Pinterest that were parts of people’s collections and we found some on Worthpoint that had been sold at a minimum of five years ago and there were only a few on there.
  • Marshmallow tins are highly collectible!  In fact, when I sold two other marshmallow tins, I found out that they have special auctions just to sell marshmallow tins, so they’re a pretty good investment.  I still don’t know what these marshmallows were like that came in these tins.  Do you think they were like our own that we take so for granted, but just much harder to come by because of the availability of ingredients to make them?  Not all marshmallow tins are worth the same as this one, but some are worth way more!  I had two I sold as soon as I put them on the showroom floor at our brick and mortar store, Tique-Tock,  for $100 each because they were being sold online for $200+ dollars.  We do try to sell our pieces at the best prices we can based on the price we pay and what they’re valued for in the market today.
